Stuart Clark is a disciplined fast bowlers whose recent performances
in the Ashes have gone some way to alleviating fears that Australia
would suffer for the loss of Glenn McGrath. Comparisons between
the two have been easy to make - he has a knack of taking wickets
just when they are needed and he rarely strays from the line of
off-stump.
He made his test debut against South Africa in Cape Town as a replacement
for McGrath; straightaway he imposed himself by taking 5-55, figures
he has yet to better in tests. He went on to take 20 wickets in
the series before taking 26 in the Ashes, contributing heavily to
Australia's whitewash of the English.
Whilst not renowned for his batting, he certainly knows the basics
and his top test score of 39 came during the Ashes; he also has
a first class half century.
His one day debut came in the Super Series of 2005 against the
ICC International XI where he took 2 for 55 and his since establised
himself as a key component of the Australian limited overs side.
